2023 Mural Walk, September 16, 2023

10am – 2pm

Walk Begins and Ends at The LYRIC Building – 115 W. Moore Ave.

The City of Terrell, in partnership with The Terrell Chamber of Commerce, will host the second annual Terrell Mural Walk on Saturday, Sept. 16, 2023.

The event will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in historic downtown Terrell. Participants are invited to enjoy a self-paced tour of the City’s existing historic murals as well as two new murals – the Sesquicentennial Mural and the Randy Snow Memorial Mural.

Participants will begin the tour at the LYRIC Building, located at 115 W. Moore Ave, where they will be issued a Mural Passport. Individuals will be eligible to earn prizes based on the number of points they accumulate by participating in activities such as taking photographs at designated murals, purchasing items from local merchants, visiting Terrell’s local museums, and attending other events such as Terrell Tales Cemetery Walk and No. 1 British Flying and Training School’s Monte Carlo Night fundraiser.

Participants also will have an opportunity to “get their hands dirty” by taking part in the creation of a paint-by-number mural on South Adelaide.

“This will be a family fun event that you will not want to miss,” said Chamber Tourism Director Sharon Harper. “Last year’s event was a huge success and this year we are offering even more activities including an art show in the newly renovated LYRIC building. Local artists will have items on display for participants to view and purchase during the duration of the walk.

Downtown merchants also will be participating in the event with numerous sales and specials for shoppers.

“We have signage located throughout the Historic Downtown area listing the address for each of our murals,” Harper said. “In addition, visitors can scan QR codes that take them to a Directory of Downtown Businesses, the Discover Terrell website, a Visitor’s Guide and the Discover Terrell GeoTour site.”

“The City of Terrell and Chamber of Commerce look forward to this celebration of Terrell as the ‘Home of the Historic Mural,’” Harper said. “We are hoping this event will attract both our local residents as well as visitors who want to explore our City.”
