A Jubilee Tradition: From Freshman Memories to Family Legacy

It’s hard to believe it’s been 44 years since the very first Terrell Jubilee—back when it was known as the Terrell Heritage Jubilee. I still remember it like it was yesterday: I was a freshman in high school, wide-eyed and taking in the sights and sounds of something brand new for our town. That first event lit a spark, and little did we know then—it would grow into a beloved tradition that would shape generations.
From that humble beginning, the Jubilee has become a staple in Terrell life. Every spring, families mark their calendars, friends reunite, and visitors from across the region flock to our city to be part of something truly special. Now, we welcome 15,000 to 17,000 attendees each year.
What makes the Terrell Jubilee so magical is that it has stayed true to its roots. Some of the original favorites are still going strong: the pig races (yes, real racing pigs!), the exciting carnival rides, rows of arts and crafts vendors, and of course, food that makes your taste buds sing hallelujah. Funnel cakes, barbecue, turkey legs—it’s all still here and still delicious.
But this isn’t just your grandparents’ Jubilee anymore. We’ve grown! Today, we’re hosting everything from a 5K run to a car show, 3-on-3 basketball tournament, pickleball showdowns, and even an extreme trampoline stunt show. It’s a blend of tradition and innovation, just like our community.
The music stage is always alive with energy, spotlighting incredible talent from around the region. Whether it’s Pop, Rock, Latin, or something in between, there’s a rhythm for every foot to tap to and a beat for every heart to follow.
For me, what started as a fun event to attend as a teen became something I looked forward to sharing with my children—and now, it’s a joy to experience it through the eyes of my grandchildren. That’s the real magic of the Terrell Jubilee. It’s not just an event. It’s a thread that ties our past to our future, our stories to our memories, and our families to each other.
Join us for the 44th Annual Terrell Jubilee, April 24-27, 2025. Come make memories, relive traditions, and be part of the celebration!
